A PRIZED AUTUMN FOR DUCA DI SALAPARUTA, CORVO, AND FLORIO: NEW INTERNATIONAL AWARDS FOR SICILIAN WINES.

Many awards for our wines in this autumn of 2023!

Let’s start with the German-speaking countries, where Mundus Vini Spring Tasting 2023, organized by Meininger, one of the market’s benchmarks, awards two Gold Medals to Duca di Salaparuta Lavico Bianco 2022 and Kados 2022 wines. But that’s not all; our Corvo Riserva Nero d’Avola 2020 was also honored with a Silver Medal.

Lengthening the list of awards, the Sicily Wine Trophy 2023 by Falstaff saw some of Duca di Salaparuta’s iconic wines excel with these scores:

Across the ocean, great appreciation was expressed by the American magazine “Wine Enthusiast for Lavico Etna Bianco 2022 and Lavico Etna Rosso 2021 (both awarded 91 points), tasted by Danielle Callegari, who also deemed Duca Enrico 2018 (92 points), Nawari 2019 (91 points) e Passo delle Mule (90 points) worthy of praise.

High scores were also given by James Suckling, particularly to Florio Marsala Vergine Riserva 2010 (94 points) and Duca Enrico 2019 – (91 points). In James Suckling’s rankings over the past 3 years, Florio is the winery that has achieved the highest scores.

Moving on to Italy, there is immense satisfaction for MARSALA VERGINE 2011 FLORIO, which Gambero Rosso’s Wine Guide awarded with the prestigious GAMBERO ROSSO’S THREE GLASSES 2024. In total, 27 Sicilian wines have received the Three Glasses this year, with Florio being the only Marsala to be honored.

Looking towards 2024, the Bibenda 2024 Guide – The Best Wines of Italy, curated by FIS (Fondazione Italiana Sommelier) and led by Sommelier Franco Maria Ricci, awarded the most iconic wines from Duca di Salaparuta and Cantine Florio with its highest recognition, 5 Bunches:

In DoctorWine’s ESSENTIAL GUIDE TO ITALIAN WINES 2024, curated by Daniele Cernilli, Duca Enrico 2019 has also been named Best Nero d’Avola Wine 2024 with a score of 96/100: an important recognition for a project that began in 1984 and continues to grow and evolve while maintaining its elegant and distinctive style. DoctorWine has also given Florio’s Virgin Marsala Riserva VR 3911 2011 with a score of 95/100.

These are a series of significant awards that acknowledge the great work starting from the vineyard and the uniqueness of oenological projects that are winning over Wine Lovers worldwide.
